Harbour guide
Where a boat can pick up a public mooring, tie up at a marina or go in off a trailer on Sydney Harbour, from Transport for NSW's boating data. The places nearest the racing and the club come first.
Watch the 18-footers from the water
The club's numbered courses round marks off Chowder Bay, Taylors Bay and Athol Bay, and each bay has public courtesy moorings a few hundred metres from a mark. Pick one up and the fleet comes past you. Moor well clear of the marks and give the skiffs room: an 18-footer on a run is fast and cannot stop.
- Chowder Bay: 1 mooring, 162 m from the Chowder Bay South Mark (CBS). Map
- Taylors Bay: 1 mooring, 383 m from the Taylors Bay Mark (TB). Map
- Athol Bay: 5 moorings, the nearest 385 m from the Athol Bay Flag Mark (A), where Courses 4 and 5 start. Map
Courtesy moorings are free and first come. A boat may stay up to 24 hours and must displace under 20 tonnes. Racing is on Saturdays from early October to Easter, with the first start about 2:15 pm; the racing calendar has the dates.
No boat? The club's spectator ferry follows the fleet with commentary when it runs, and its page carries the current status.

Courtesy moorings by bay
Transport for NSW keeps 52 pink courtesy moorings on the harbour and its rivers, in 19 bays. They are free and first come. A boat may stay up to 24 hours and must displace under 20 tonnes. At Fisher Bay and Pearl Bay the limit is 2 hours and sailing vessels only. 7 moorings at Manly Cove and Quarantine Beach are environmentally friendly moorings, built to spare the seagrass under them. The 30 blue emergency moorings are for the Water Police and boats in trouble, not for public use, and are not shown.
The three maps place every public mooring, marina, wharf and ramp in the data. Tap a symbol on any map to jump to its details below; there, a name or a Map link opens the place in Google Maps, and a number rings it.

About this guide
Moorings and ramps: Maritime NSW Public Moorings (as published 18 December 2024) and Maritime NSW Boat Ramps (as published 15 August 2026), Transport for NSW, CC BY 4.0, from the Transport Open Data Hub. Marinas and wharves: Transport for NSW, Sydney Harbour Boating Destinations map, last edited 9 December 2024. Copied into the club's records on 21 October 2026 and checked monthly.
The data is Transport for NSW's and the club has not visited each place. A mooring can be taken or removed, a marina's limits can change, and the chart, the tide and the marina's own word govern. Not for navigation.
