Cleat

A fitting for tying ropes. The traditional cleat has one end "V" shaped and one end rounded; the "V" end jams the rope and is deliberately rough inside so the rope does not slip. Two requirements for a rope tied to a cleat: it should not come undone or slip, and it should be easy to release.
