NOTICE OF RACE

1 RULES

        1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of
               Sailing for 2009 - 2012 (RRS), the Class rules of the International Flying
               Dutchman Association of New South Wales and is hosted by the Sydney Flying
               Squadron on behalf of the International Flying Dutchman Class Association of
               NSW.
         1.2 In the event of conflict between any of the rules or regulations, other than
               RRS, the Sailing Instructions will prevail.

2 ADVERTISING

          2.1 All races governed by this Notice of Race are classified Category C in
                accordance with RRS 80 except when advertising is prohibited under class rules.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

          3.1 The regatta is open to all currently registered boats of the International
                 Flying Dutchman class
          3.2 Eligible boats may enter from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Sunday
                November 22. Entry forms will be available from 11:00 am from the Registration
                Table just inside roller shutter door leading to the park.
                Entry fee is $30:00.

5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

          5.1 The sailing instructions will be available after 11:00am on 22/11/09 at the
               Registration table just inside the boat shed when entering from the park.

6 VENUE

          6.1 Sydney Flying Squadron, 76 McDougall St., Milsons Point, NSW 2061.
                Rigging takes place in the park adjacent to the Clubhouse, launching is via the
                boat ramp. Cars need to exit the park after dropping of the trailer.
         6.2 Showers are in the boat shed, ATM, Bar, Bistro and restaurant upstairs –
               enter the boat shed from, turn left through the door and up the stairs.

7 THE COURSES

         7.1 The courses to be sailed will be as follows, all roundings are to starboard:
               There are three courses, and all are variations on the windward return course.
               The first course is start head directly to windward to the top mark (large yellow
               inflatable mark), round to starboard and head for the finish line on the starboard
               side of the Committee boat.
               The second course is start and head to port of the Committee boat to the wing
               mark, then head for the top mark and downwind to the finish on the starboard side
               of the Committee boat.
              The third course is start head directly to windward and round the top mark then
              head for the wing mark on starboard side of the course round it and head for the
              finish.

        7.2 Course sheets will be available with the sailing instructions.

8 SCORING

        8.1 The Bonus Point System of Appendix A will apply.
        8.2 Support boats shall be flying the blue SFS Pennant.

9 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

        9.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4,
              Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for
              material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior
              to, during, or after the regatta.

10 INSURANCE

        10.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability
                insurance with a minimum cover of $5 million.

11 FURTHER INFORMATION

         11.1 Yachts shall not interfere with the Commercial or Defence shipping of the
                 Port. The attention of skippers is drawn to NSW Maritime Authority regulations
                 regarding the right of way of vessels entering or leaving port, ferries displaying
                 orange diamonds and vessels engaged in towing. NSW Maritime regulations
                 specify “Priority over Sail –some Commercial Ferries on Sydney Harbour display
                 an orange diamond shape which grants priority of way over sailing vessels. Do
                 not attempt to cross the path of an approaching ferry displaying this signal”.
         11.2 Boats found to have interfered with commercial shipping may be subject
                 to action by the Race Committee in accordance with RRS 60.2.
          11.3 All yachts must abide by traffic directions of NSW Boating Service
                  Officers. Any yacht directed to stop or alter course by NSW Maritime Boating
                  Service Officers as a result of an anticipated breach of the above rules,
                  incident/collision or complaint shall do so immediately.
          11.4 Any yachts reported by NSW Maritime as having contravened NSW
                 Maritime regulations may be disqualified.
